Brittany’s (Brittany Spaniels or Epagneul Breton) are wonderful companion dogs who certainly make you feel loved and appreciated.  Originally developed in the Brittany province of France between the 17th and 19th centuries, they were officially recognized as a breed in the early 20th century.
Brittany’s are an athletic medium sized dog who are easy to train with a sensitive nature. Owners should be firm, but never cruel. Regular exercise is important as these dogs are smart and energetic and will become destructive if they are not stimulated through exercise and training. Not particularly suitable for small apartments unless exercise is a major part of your routine, they love to run and are an excellent family dog.
Originally bred for pointing, retrieving and hunting, they "love birds" and can become single-minded when feathered friends are around, however they are great with other animals including cats, and for those on farms, also good with horses, pigs, cattle and sheep.
Brittany’s are healthy, hardy dogs that live a long life (around 12-14 years). They are a wonderful friend, pet, sporting dog and companion.
An excellent book reference is: Brittany: The essenial guide for the Brittany Lover
